Thoughts on The Walking Dead: “Welcome to the Tombs”

The Governor Comes to Take the Prison as Season 3 Closes

The Walking Dead as an entirety has had a great many ups and downs throughout its three seasons. As season two drew to a close last year, and viewers got their first glimpse of the prison, I, along with countless  of others no doubt, grew increasingly anxious about Rick and the prison, as well as meeting the infamous Governor. However, as season three progressed,  I grew less and less hopeful. “Welcome to the Tombs” was the final nail in the coffin as season three came to close in pitiful fashion, easily making this season the worst thus far.

Thoughts on The Walking Dead: “This Sorrowful Life”

In the midst of a very lackluster Andrea-centric episode last week, this weeks episode of The Walking Dead presented a surprisingly character-centric episode that focused on someone who’s allegiance has always lied somewhere in the middle- Merle. [Read more...]

Thoughts on The Walking Dead: “Prey”

A Wanted Woman

TWD_GP_314_1109_0093

Well this episode certainly has been a long time coming. Since the beginning of the season, Andrea has continuously, and flawlessly, given in to the Governor and his actions. However, “Prey”, sought to change that with Andrea questioning his motives and his plans for the prison. Yet what should have been a big moment in the series came to feel a little deflated, for Andrea’s decision comes far too late in a season in a season of half-cocked actions and pitiful mistakes.

Thoughts on The Walking Dead: “Arrow on the Doorpost”

The Road to War is Paved

TWD_GP_313_1010_0295

After last week’s astounding, character focused episode, it was unfortunate to see “Arrow on the Doorstep” return to the unfocused conflict between Rick and the Governor. While it did set up the final events leading to the end of the season, “Arrow on the Doorpost” felt forced and a way to progress the inevitable, and likely bloody, battlebetween the Prison and Woodbury.

Thoughts on The Walking Dead: “Clear”

Forgive But Never Forget…

Well this week’s episode certainly was pleasant surprise. After seeing the “next time” clip at the end of last week’s terrible episode, I had little hope for “Clear”. However, I should not have been so cynical for this week’s episode turned out to be a smart, character focused story in which stands out as one of the, if not the, best episodes this season.

Thoughts on The Walking Dead: I Ain’t A Judas

A Fools Hope

TWD_GP_311_0921_0286Well this season of the Walking Dead is certainly turning out to be another mixed bag. After a strong first half to the season, these last few weeks have been less than stellar, with the show moving at an alarmingly slow pace, and only a few standout moments. Unfortunately, this week turned out to be no different as the writers choose to focus on Andrea. To be fair I did have hope for her to redeem herself, especially since she was going to the prison for the first time, but alas no as “I Ain’t A Judas” turned out to be the worst episode in a season that began so strongly. Thoughts on The Walking Dead: Home

Another One Bites The Dust

reg_634.WD.ls.1913_copyWell that’s unfortunate. The Walking Dead series has been known to pull the rug out from underneath viewers, and this episode was no different. Unfortunately the ‘big surprise’ felt unwarranted, and felt like a way to quicken the pace of a few slow moving episode. While in all accounts not a horrible episode, “Home” felt like it tried to juggle too many stories and moments and all together came out as a jumbled mess with a surprise ending.

Thoughts on The Walking Dead: Suicide Kings

The Battle Begins

TWD_TR_309_0810_0361

After a two month wait, The Walking Dead made its return to television Sunday night. For months fans have been waiting to see the repercussions of Rick’s actions, as well as to see what will happen to Merle and Daryl now that they have been pitted against each in the Govenor’s twisted gladiatorial ring. While the beginning of this episode showed a great deal of promise, this came to be quickly undercut by poor decisions, stupid dialogue, and a few character moments.

Thoughts on The Walking Dead: Made to Suffer

Stop! Hammer Time

TWD_GP_308_0807_0276

Last week’s episode of The Walking Dead left the survivors in quite the interesting predicament. While Glenn and Maggie did all they could to survive, Rick and a rag-tag group came to infiltrate Woodbury. With a very intriguing cliff-hanger, I had high hopes for this week’s episode. Fortunately, “Made to Suffer” lived up to those expectations and then some, with some great character introductions and moments and some truly awesome action sequences.

Thoughts on The Walking Dead: When the Dead Come Knocking

Fight to Survive

First off I would like to say well done Glenn! This week’s episode of The Walking Dead was a very intense ride as characters fought to survive and protect those they love. After a mixed episode last week, this week’s episode certainly paved the way for the mid-season finale and had some big turning points for the series.
