Way back in August Valve announced non gaming software was to be sold through Steam. After a brief delay, the software is now available on the store page for everyone to enjoy. The software titles include
- 3D-Coat-ArtRageStudio Pro
- 3D Mark Vantage
- 3D Mark 11
- Gamemaker: Studio
- ArtRage Studio Pro
- Camera Bag 2
For those interested in the titles you can head over to the Steam store website (http://store.steampowered.com/), where they are currently having a 10% discount on the software listed above. It is likely that Steam will be releasing more software products in the coming weeks so get your creative juices flowing and be prepared to not only purchase games on Steam, but create your own.
So what do you guys think? Are you excited for these software titles? Do you think that now they are on a major game retailler site that people will be more willing to purchase and in turn create titles, or will it only capture a niche market? More interstingly though, do you think this is a clever way for Steam to back their Greenlight project; perhaps allowing people to create and inturn sell their products through one organisation.
