I had an odd relationship with NetherRealm’s new fighting game since the time it was announced to the time of its release. The idea of a gritty fighting game starring the DC heroes and villains was interesting. The lack of the developer’s signature ultra-violence was disheartening and it seemed like the game was going to fall to the wayside as Mortal Kombat 9 with a DC skin. After getting the game earlier than expected because of my need for a fightstick, I can gladly report that Injustice: Gods Among Us offers enough fresh hooks and ridiculous moments to set it apart within the fighting genre.
BATMAN! The one book above all others in the New 52 that is consistently top-notch material. Batman has been beaten and broken, barely escaping with his life. He is now a frightened bat on the run from the owls. The Court of Owls will stop at nothing to kill Batman. Scott Snyder must really hate the guy.
This continues to be one of my favorite books in the DC New 52. Jason Todd, a former Robin, former dead man, now known as the Red Hood, is fighting a seemingly endless war against the Untitled. Issue #7 attempts to answer some questions about Essence and ask some new ones as well!
Issue #7 takes us into the present day and we see what the Justice League looks like after five years. The trouble is, you’d think they would grow up a little bit. The back-up story features the first New 52 appearance of Shazam.
Brian Azzarello is writing one of the most intriguing books in the New 52 with Wonder Woman. However, since the first mini-arc I haven’t been as interested in this book. Issue #7 attempts to rekindle the fire.
